There is a considerable fall in the application for JEE Mains this year as around 1 lakh fewer students are registered for JEE Mains 2016. This pattern started in the year 2014 when the total number of the application was 13.56 lakhs who applied which went down to 13.03 in the year 2015. The application at that time went down by 50,000.
While in 2015 JEE Main had 13.03 lakh aspirants applications, registrations for JEE Mains 2016 stands at 12.07 lakh aspirants applied. There was a positive pattern starting from 2012, 2013, 2014. Since the year 2014, the interest seems to be waning and there is a consequent decline.
“Students who do no have the capacity to appear for the national level competitive exam for IITs and NITs will prefer skipping it. The ones aiming to get into state institutes will favour the state’s CET.“ – S K Mahajan, director, directorate of technical education.
Another official said the constant changes in the Central test pattern would have discouraged a few aspirants from waiting for it. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), is the conducting authority for JEE Mains and the exams are scheduled on 3rd April 2016 offline and April 9 and April 10, 2016, online.
